Wind Farm Project Stays on Track in Gratiot County

Updates on Invenergy’s wind farm, the lease agreement with County Farm, and a presentation by the county road commission were the main items brought before the Gratiot County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

Emerson Township recently voted and approved the site plans for 14 wind turbines as part of Invenergy’s Gratiot County wind farm. All turbines are now approved and are scheduled to be raised in July.

Two turbines are scheduled to be installed each week, but the foundations, including 33 tons of steel, are to be setup first.

“It’s going to be an amazing, massive project,” County Administrator Nicole Frost said. “As soon as the weather allows, you’ll start to see some major headway.”
